Citizenship

At Mayersohn Law Group, we place great importance on giving back to the community in different ways that are significant to us. We realize that we are fortunate and due to our great fortune in life, it is our obligation to help others. We are selective with the people and causes that we support through both leadership and donations of time and money. We do not publicize all of the work that we do in the community due to confidentiality and other reasons, but some of the notable events and causes are here.

Sponsorship of a School in India

Leah Mayersohn bought all of the needed class supplies for school children in Panna, India for an entire elementary school. Furthermore, she arranged for the children to be taken on a special shopping trip.  The trip started with a day spent with the people from the Taj Resorts on Safari with a picnic meal and ended in providing brand new outfits and shoes for all for the children from a local market. Ms. Mayersohn continues to stay in touch with some of the people who helped facilitate these donations at the Taj Resorts to check on the kids.

B’nai B’rith Justice Unit Event – An Evening of food and wine to benefit JAFCO

Leah Mayersohn hosted an event on behalf of the B'nai B'rith Justice Unit to benefit Jafco (Jewish Adoption & Foster Care Options).  Jafco is a wonderful organization that cares for abused and neglected children and those with developmental disabilities. Celebrity Chef Michelle Bernstein cooked much of the food for the evening along with other food and beverage sponsors who did a spectacular job such as the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Beach, Morton's, and many others.  Bentley and Rolls Royce of Fort Lauderdale provided the fantastic location for the event. Leah was delighted that not only did they raise a lot of money for Jafco that evening, but more importantly, at least one child was adopted as a result of the event.

15 Minutes of Fame – An Event to Benefit the Studio Arts Program of the Nova Southeastern University Art Museum

Leah Mayersohn and Vickie Hyman put together an event to benefit the Mayersohn-Hyman Scholarship Fund for the Nova Southeastern University Art Museum to provide scholarships for children to attend studio arts classes.  Leah and Vickie raised over $70,000 to benefit the children in Broward County who wanted to attend these classes.  The art museum was hosting the Andy Warhol exhibition on cars so the theme of the benefit matched the exhibition. The studio arts program at the art museum is very important as funding for the arts has been eliminated at many of the local schools so this is the only artistic outlet for many of the students.  The studio arts program has been key to the development of local artists in the community and several of the art students have graduated from the program and have subsequently been awarded art scholarships for college.
