South Florida: Seminole police files in shooting to be reviewed
The Seminole Police Department's investigative files into the
fatal officer-involved shooting of a tribal member will be
scrutinized Thursday by an attorney and private investigators
representing the slain man's family.
The Seminole Tribal Council voted 5-0 on Tuesday to allow the
review of the police investigation into the March 8 shooting of
Dennis Osceola, 47, said Leah Mayersohn, an attorney
representing Osceola's family. Seminole tribal police fatally
shot Osceola in the back during a confrontation in which police
said he charged an officer with a knife.
Seminole Police Capt. Robert McDaniel, who is handling the
investigation, could not be reached for comment Tuesday.
Seminole police haven't released the names of the officers
involved or announced any findings in the shooting inquiry.
