Lewis Heller has devoted his entire career in the area of
workers’ compensation. He is the Past National Chairman of the
Workplace Injury Litigation Group, Association of Trial Lawyers
of America. He is the Past President of the New York Workers
Compensation Bar Association, the Workers Compensation Committee
of the New York State Bar Association and a frequent lecturer
throughout the United States in the area of workers'
compensation. He was a co-founder of the Injured Workers Bar
Association of New York State.
Lewis received his Bachelors of Arts degree from Hofstra
University in 1968 and was recognized in "Who's Who in American
Colleges and Universities". A member of the military Honor
Society, he received his commission in the United States Army
Reserves.
He earned a Juris Doctorate degree from Suffolk University Law
School in 1971.
In 2005 Mr. Heller was honored at the National Press Club in
Washington, D.C. by the Workplace Injury Law and Advocacy Group
with its first Samuel Horovitz Lifetime Achievement Award for
his work in the promotion and preservation of the right of
injured workers.
In 2007 he was honored by The American Bar Association by
induction as a Fellow in its first College of Workers
Compensation Lawyers, one of only fifty lawyers in the entire
country so honored.
Formally a senior partner in the law firm of Brecher, Fishman,
Pasternack, Heller, Walsh, & Tilker since 1978 Lewis is now a
consultant to the workers’ compensation industry.
